Dimension
A weighted blend of cotton and bamboo will require a 2.50 mm crochet hook. From head to toe, this little alien model will measure 9 cm, 12 cm including antenna.

You can use the same pattern to make larger or smaller toys using finer or bulkier yarns. Choose a smaller crochet hook than recommended on the yarn label and crochet tightly enough to get a tight gauge that won't let the filling show through the fabric. You may also need to adjust the size of the safety eyes.

What You Will Need
Yarn. Weighted cotton and bamboo blend, 50g = 100m (50g = 109yd) / 8 ply / 11 wpi / 3: light . You will need about 25 g or 50 m of yarn.
2.25 – 3.00 mm hook
For stuffing, polyester fiber filling, wool, wadding etc.
Cotton embroidery floss.
15mm safety rings or buttons, beads, felt, etc.
Thread needle, scissors, sewing pen.

Materials

mr, sc n = magic ring – single crochet stitch into adjustable loop.
sk a st = skip a stitch.
ch = chain stitch.
sc = single crochet stitch (double crochet stitch in UK and Australia).
sc n = crochet n single crochet stitches, one in each stitch.
inc = increase – crochet two single crochet stitches in the same stitch.
dec = decrease – crochet two stitches together using the invisible decrease method.
(sc 4, inc) x n = repeat the pattern between the brackets n times.
[36] = number of stitches in one round after finishing round.
Notes
Work in a continuous spiral without turning your work around.
Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or start of a round. Move the pointer up after completing each round.
All stitches are worked into both loops.

Head

Since oversized safety eyes are used, it's best to alternate the two single crochet stitches with chain stitches in the 9th round to leave holes. If you are not using the safety eyelet, make a single crochet in each stitch.

9: sc 13, zm, skip, sc 8, zm, skip, sc 13 = [36]
10: sc in each stitch = [36]
11: sc, dec, (sc 4, dec) x 5, sc 3 = [30]

Locate the remaining holes in the round and install the safety eyes.
Start stuffing the little alien model's head. Continue adding some fiberfill, stuffing the head tightly after each round.

Cut and secure the yarn, leaving a long tail of yarn for sewing. Finish stuffing the little alien model's head. Embroider the nostrils or smile with cotton embroidery floss or non-bleeding thread. Knot the thread ends together under the head.

Body

4-5: sc in each stitch = [18]
6: (sc 4, reduction) x 3 = [15]
7: sc, dec, (sc 3, dec) x 2, sc 2 = [12]

Fasten and hide the thread tail. Tightly stuff the little alien model's body. Sew the headboard to the body using the mattress or whipstitch. Add some more stuffing before closing the seam.

arms
1: mr, sc 6 = [6]

Tightly stuff the little alien model's hands. Do not fill the sleeves.

6: Push the top flat and crochet over the opening.

Cut and secure the thread, leaving a long tail of thread for sewing. Sew the arms of the little alien model to the sides of the torso one row below the head.

Legs

3: sc in each stitch = [9]
4: (sc, decrement) x 3 = [6]

Tightly stuff the little alien model's feet. Do not stuff the legs.

5-6: sc in each stitch = [6]


 
Cut and secure the thread, leaving a long tail of thread for sewing. Sew the legs to the body on both sides of the first round.

antennas
1: mr, sc 6 = [6]
2: increase x 6 = [12]
3-4: sc in each stitch = [12]
5: dec x 6 = [6]

Firmly stuff the ends of the antenna of the model. Do not fill the stems.

6-9: sc in each stitch = [6]

Cut and secure the thread, leaving a long tail of thread for sewing. Sew the antenna just below the 4th round.
