Colorful Baby Blanket

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4″ [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
Baby Blanket measures 37″ [94 cm] x 34″ [86 cm].
NOTE:
Blanket is worked back and forth in rows. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts.
BLANKET
With B, cast on 167 sts. Knit every row until piece measures 3″ [7.5 cm] from beginning, end with a wrong side row.
*St st Stripe
Next Row (Right Side): Change to D, knit.
Next Row: K12, p143, k12.
Repeat last 2 rows until 12 rows have been worked.
Heart Stripe
Row 1: Change to A, knit.
Row 2: K12, p143, k12.
Row 3: K12, [k6, p1, k19] 5 times, k6, p1, k18.
Row 4: K12, [p5, k3, p18] 5 times, p5, k3, p5, k12.
Row 5: K12, [k4, p5, k17] 5 times, k4, p5, k16.
Row 6: K12, [p3, k7, p16] 5 times, p3, k7, p3, k12.
Row 7: K12, [k2, p9, k15] 5 times, k2, p9, k14.
Row 8: K12, [p2, k9, p15] 5 times, p2, k9, p2, k12.
Row 9: K12, [k2, p4, k1, p4, k15] 5 times, k2, p4, k1, p4, k14.

Row 11: Knit.
Row 12: K12, p143, k12.
Change to C and work St st Stripe for 12 rows, keeping first and last 12 sts in Garter st (knit every row).
Change to B and work Heart Stripe for 12 rows, keeping first and last 12 sts in Garter st. Repeat from * twice more.
Change to D and work St st Stripe for 12 rows, keeping first and last 12 sts in Garter st. Change to A and work Heart Stripe for 12 rows, keeping first and last 12 sts in Garter st. Change to C and work St st Stripe for 12 rows, keeping first and last 12 sts in Garter st. Change to B and knit every for 3″ [7.5 cm]. Bind off.
