Inc1 = Increase 1 stitch in next stitch by knitting into front and back of stitch.
K = Knit
K2tog = Knit next 2 stitches together
P = Purl
P2tog = Purl next 2 stitches together
Rem = Remaining
Rep = Repeat
Rnd(s) = Round(s)
St(s) = Stitch(es)

SIZES
To fit baby 3 (6/12) mos.

GAUGE
13 sts and 18 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in stocking st with larger needles.
22 sts and 30 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in stocking st with smaller needles.

INSTRUCTIONS
With MC and larger needles, cast on 12 (16) sts. Beg with a knit row, proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 2¾ (3¾)” [7 (9.5) cm], ending on a purl row.

Next row: *K2tog. Rep from * to end of row. 6 (8) sts.

Next row: *P2tog. Rep from * to end of row.3 (4) sts. Break yarn,leaving a long end.Thread end through rem loops and fasten securely. Sew top of Bootie to within 2½ (2¾)” [6 (7) cm] of cast on edge.Sew back seam.

Cuff: With A and double-pointed needles, pick up and knit 28 (32) sts around top edge of Bootie. Divide sts onto 3 needles. Join to beg working in rnd, placing marker on first st.

1st rnd: *K1. P1. Rep from * around. Rep last rnd of (K1. P1) ribbing until work from pick up rnd measures 2 (3)” [5 (7.5) cm]. Cast off loosely in ribbing.

EARS (make 4)
With MC and pair of double-pointed needles, cast on 7 sts.
1st row: Knit. 2nd row: Inc1 in first st. Knit to end of row.
8 sts.3rd row: Knit.
4th row: K2tog. Knit to end of row.Cast off. Sew Ears to either side of Bootie as shown in picture. With black embroidery floss, embroider eyes using satin st. Embroider nose and mouth using stem stitch.
